What is LANAP?

LANAP is a laser therapy that is used for patients who have periodontal disease and require treatment. This procedure is an advanced technique that is used by Dr. Jamil Alkhoury to treat the later stages of periodontal disease. Oral health can now be restored with the help of laser treatments such as this. A laser light targets the “pockets” to remove diseased tissue and bacteria.

What are the advantages of using LANAP laser procedure?

This procedure has several benefits to the patient. It greatly reduces the infection, sensitivity, and root exposure. The healthy gum tissue is preserved, reducing bleeding, and facilitating faster healing times. LANAP is also relatively affordable for many of our periodontal disease patients, and allows individuals the opportunity to restore their smiles. This eliminates the need for extraction of teeth.

Who may require LANAP laser therapy?

Patients with healthy gums do not require LANAP treatment. However, individuals with the later stages of periodontal disease may be great candidates for this procedure. This is decided by measuring the depth of the pockets and determining if there has been the beginning stages of bone and tissue loss. Gingivitis, the earlier stages of gum disease, does not require this procedure.
