When you think of orthodontics, you probably get an image in your head of the traditional “metal mouth” of yesterday. While we do provide conventional braces and strongly recommend them for many cases, we also offer Invisalign, an alignment system that uses removable clear plastic trays to move your teeth into position.

Comparing conventional braces and Invisalign:

Invisalign is for minor to moderate alignment issues. Conventional braces can be used for minor to severe alignment problems.
Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners, which are worn at least 20 hours a day and are removed for eating and oral care. Conventional braces use brackets, wires, spacers, and rubber bands and remain on the teeth 24 hours a day.
Conventional braces typically are tightened every 4 to 8 weeks during routine office visits. Invisalign patients wear a new alignment tray every two weeks.
Invisalign isn’t recommended for younger teenagers because the alignment trays are removable increasing the possibility of not wearing the trays as prescribed or losing the trays. Conventional braces can be used for all ages.
