The procedure for a dental implant starts with a consultation appointment. Dr. Jamil Alkhoury needs to ensure patients are proper candidates for the treatment. Patients need sufficient bone in the jaw to ensure successful placement of the implant. This can be determined with x-rays. Once patients have decided implants are right for them, surgery is scheduled. Oral surgery is done with proper anesthetics and sedation during which the titanium post is inserted into the bone of the jaw.Then the process of osseointegration occurs. This is growth of the bone surrounding the implant, which holds it firmly in place. This occurs over the course of several weeks while patients have a custom crown fabricated to place over the implant. This finishes the process and gives patients the confidence they need to look and feel their best—while not feeling self-conscious about their appearance to others. Dental implants stay in place, provide long-lasting restoration, and are the best value in tooth replacement for many of our patients.
